Founder, Principal Attorney
Cynthia Assam, Esq., an award-winning business and intellectual property law attorney. She is the Founder and Principal Attorney of Assam Law & Consulting, LLC (ALC), a disruptive law firm specializing in assisting creatives and entrepreneurs with their business, entertainment, and intellectual property law needs. As one of the less than 2% of U.S. licensed IP lawyers who are Black, Assam considers equity in intellectual property a modern civil rights issue.
Outside of ALC, Cynthia is the President of Maryland-based nonprofit Win Back, Corp. and is serving her second term as Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago.
Dr. Ann Assam,
Co-Founder, Principal Consultant
Dr. Ann Assam immigrated to the U.S. with the goal of becoming a healthcare practitioner and elevating access to affordable, compassionate healthcare to underserved communities. A licensed clinical Pharmacist, Dr. Assam’s career has included notable titles such as Associate Director of Pharmacy at UIC’s Mile Square Health Center as well as Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at UIC’s College of Pharmacy.
In 2019, Dr. Assam became the Clinical Pharmacist and QA & Compliance Officer for Gold Coast Home Health Agency. Currently, Dr. Assam is the Co-Founder of Restoring Harmony, an Illinois-based home healthcare agency and most recently is the Co-Founder and Principal Consultant of Assam Law & Consulting (ALC). Serving the Chicagoland community and beyond, Dr. Assam’s current practice areas at ALC include: provider credentialing services, home care and homemaker start-up services, survey readiness preparation, and medication management. Her over decade-long experience as Administrator of an award winning home health care agency informs her vast operational knowledge.
Majesta Ochoa
Director of Operations
As the Director of Operations, Majesta Ochoa is responsible for the daily operations of ALC. Her 10+ years of experience and leadership have been focused on developing and delivering technology-driven business services and solutions, providing outstanding client service, and driving profitable revenue growth.
Prior to joining ALC in 2021, Ms. Ochoa was the Senior Business Development Analyst with Ho’olaulima Government Solutions (HGS), a provider of several Federal services to the DoD and other federal agencies. During her time at HGS, she was responsible for driving over $1 billion in revenue across the US and OCONUS and led HGS’s efforts to deliver best-in-class unified services to hundreds of clients.
In addition, Ms. Ochoa is a proud Navy veteran who served over 9 years in administrative healthcare settings. Outside of ALC, Ms. Ochoa is completing her MBA at Our Lady of the Lake University to gain unique insight into the business world while leveraging her military skills.
